NAKANISHI Emax Evolution Attachments Explained: Which One for Which Job

The Emax Evolution from NAKANISHI (sold as NSK in some countries) is a micro grinder system: one control unit and motor, and a range of attachments that turn it into an angle grinder, a long-reach grinder, a belt sander or a reciprocating polisher. This guide explains what each attachment does, so you can pick the one for the job in front of you.

Quick answer
  • Corners, inside faces, sanding with discs: IC-300 (90°) or KC-300 (50°) angle attachment.
  • Deburring inside small holes: MFC-300M mini angle attachment.
  • Grinding at the bottom of a deep hole: BMH-300 long attachment.
  • Bigger bits (6 mm shank): HG-200, with the ENK-250T torque motor.
  • Narrow grooves and edges: KBS-101 belt sander.
  • Reciprocating polishing (stones or sandpaper): LS-100 luster polisher.
  • Straight grinding with lever-operated tool changes: IH-300 lever-type attachment.

How the Emax Evolution system fits together

The system has three parts: the control unit (NE249), a motor, and an attachment that holds the tool. Two motors are offered:

  • ENK-410S standard motor: 1,000–40,000 min⁻¹, max torque 4.3 cN·m
  • ENK-250T torque motor: 1,000–25,000 min⁻¹, max torque 4.8 cN·m, for heavier work and larger tools

Distributors list the attachments in this guide as Emax Evolution attachments; the HG-200 is meant for the ENK-250T torque motor. A FC-64 foot pedal lets you control speed hands-free.

Check your voltage. The complete EV250-100 set in our store is the Japanese AC 100 V version. Check your mains voltage before you buy a set.

Angle attachments: IC-300 (90°) and KC-300 (50°)

NAKANISHI IC-300 90 degree angle attachment

NAKANISHI developed these angle attachments for working in corners, on inside surfaces, and for surface finishing with rubber pads. With different discs, they also grind and polish flat faces and end faces quickly, according to the NAKANISHI manual.

The IC-300 has a 90° head and the KC-300 a 50° head. Both come with a 3.0 mm collet (CHC-3.0), rubber pads for 10, 20 and 30 mm discs, and sanding discs in 11, 21 and 31 mm (#180 and #600, five each). The manual also notes that the KC-300 turns in the opposite direction to the motor.

Small and deep holes: MFC-300M and BMH-300

NAKANISHI MFC-300M mini angle attachment

The MFC-300M is a 90° mini angle attachment designed for finishing and deburring inside small holes, such as removing burrs and edges or correcting drilled holes. NAKANISHI calls the M type the smallest 90° head in its range. It takes 1.6 mm shank tools and must run at 15,000 min⁻¹ or less.

For deep holes, the BMH-300 is a long attachment with a ø13 mm body, listed by Kemet for deep-hole grinding.

Bigger bits: HG-200 6 mm torque attachment

NAKANISHI HG-200 6 mm torque attachment

Most micro grinder bits have 3 mm or 2.35 mm shanks. The HG-200 takes 6 mm shank tools (6.0 mm collet included), so you can use larger bits. Pair it with the ENK-250T torque motor.

Own an Espert 500 instead?

NAKANISHI's Espert 500 uses its own motors (ENK-500C and ENK-500T) and its own attachments. We stock the HER-500 ring-type, EHL-401 lever-type, EIC-300 90° angle and ES50C-HR 6 mm torque-type attachments. Do not mix Espert 500 and Emax Evolution parts unless the product page lists your motor.

FAQ

Is NAKANISHI the same as NSK?

The Emax Evolution is NAKANISHI's product. Some distributors outside Japan sell it under the NSK name.

Do these attachments fit both Emax Evolution motors?
