Which Mitutoyo cylinder gauge should you buy?

Start with the hole diameter you measure, then check the accuracy and repeatability. The table lists all 10 models, sorted by measuring range. Every value comes from the specification table on each product page.

All 10 models list Japan as the country of origin. The type names (small diameter, standard, shallow hole) follow the product names. The product pages do not state a minimum hole depth for the shallow-hole models, or whether a dial indicator is included. Both are Not confirmed, so check with us before you order.

How to choose

  • Hole diameter: pick the model whose range covers your hole. Small holes (6-18.5 mm) use the CG-S10A or CG-S18A. The 18-35 mm range is the CG-35AX (standard) or CGF-35X (15-35 mm, shallow hole).
  • Accuracy and repeatability: the standard models (CG-35AX, CG-150AX, CG-160AX, CG-250AX, CG-400AX) list 2 μm wide-range accuracy and 0.5 μm repeatability. The shallow-hole models list 4 μm and 1 μm. The small-diameter models list 5 μm and 2 μm.
  • Two models for 50-150 mm: the CG-150AX (standard, 250 g) and the CGF-150X (shallow hole, 650 g) cover the same range. The table shows the difference in accuracy and weight.
  • Dial indicator: each product page lists recommended dial gauge numbers for 0.01 mm and 0.001 mm graduations, and a recommended protective cover (21DZA000). Check these numbers before you buy an indicator.
