All 23 models list Japan as the country of origin. For dial depth gauges, the product pages list both a measuring range and a dial stroke; both are shown. "Not confirmed" means the product page does not state the value, or states it in a way we could not verify, so we do not claim it.

How to choose

  • Accuracy: the depth micrometers list the tightest maximum permissible error, ±0.003 mm (DMS series and DMC100-150MX). The DMC100-150MX and DMC100-300MX also display 0.001 mm.
  • Reading the result: the VDS-15, VDS-20, VDS-30 and VDS-60 read 0.05 mm. The Digimatic VDS-AX and VDS-P models and the dial gauges display 0.01 mm.
  • Workshop conditions: the VDS-AX and VDS-P models list IP67 protection, and the VDS-P models are listed as coolant-proof.
  • Sending readings to a computer or data collector: the VDS-AX, VDS-P, DMC100 and NTD35-M models list a data output terminal. To connect them, see Mitutoyo measurement data and wireless systems.
  • Base width: a wider base sits more steadily across a large opening. The bases range from 60 mm (NTD35-M) to 250 mm (VDS-60 and VDS-60DC).
  • Deep parts: for depths over 300 mm, the VDS-60 and VDS-60DC reach 600 mm.
  • Tires: the NTD35-M is a digital tire depth gauge with a 0-25 mm range and 0.01 mm display.
