All 4 testers list Japan as the country of origin. The two SJ-220 series pages describe a compact instrument for use in the field with a hand tool-like feel, and list a handy case, AC adapter, extension cable (1 m) and USB 2.0 cable in the set. How to choose

  • Stylus tip and force: two testers list a 60° cone, a 2 μm tip radius and 0.75 mN (SJ-2200.75MN and 178-570-21). The other two list a 90° cone, a 5 μm tip radius and 4 mN (SJ-2204MN and 178-570-22).
  • Size and weight: the SJ-220 series weighs 510 g with a 17.5 mm X-axis range. The SJ-3100 series weighs 1.8 kg with a 16.0 mm X-axis range. The Z-axis range is 360 μm for all four.
  • Power: the SJ-3100 series pages list battery or AC adapter. The SJ-220 pages list an AC adapter in the set contents; the power supply is Not confirmed.
